Phillies Trade Buzz 7/28

28 Jul

Here’s the latest….

Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. still has a shopping list.  According to multiple sources Amaro is working aggressively to add to his club before Sunday’s trade deadline.

Hunter Pence is his apparently still his top priority, Carlos Quentin follows as is his second choice and Mike Adams is his third choice.  There has been some chatter that Amaro might consider trying to pry Ryan Ludwick away from the Padres with Mike Adams, if that’s even possible.

There are also reports now that Domonic Brown would possibly be considered as a trade piece if the right situation presented itself.

Last night’s 2-1 loss to the Giants is a great example of why the Phillies need to make a move to grab a right handed bat.

It’s going to be a wild couple of days…. I’m hearing that with Pence it’s now a 50/50 chance he will be traded.  One must wonder how long Ruben will push the Astros’ buttons before he decides to move on.

Phils are fools if they trade Brown. It’s his first full season cut him so slack. Let him prove himself. Schmidt’s first full year turned out horrible and look what happened to him. Would like to see Pence but it’s not worth it if Brown has to go.

I’m just not on the Pence bandwagon, there are holes in his game that are being ignored by too many. I’m more inclined to see Quentin and Adams, it does more for the team, overall. As far as Brown, there is only one player in the league I’d trade him for, and that’s Matt Kemp. Kemp is only 26, with a far more complete all around game.

Well buddy, it looks like we won’t be having to deal with this problem. I think for what we gave up this is a pretty fair deal. We’re going to have to pay him quite a bit, that’s for sure, but I think it’s going to be worth it.
