Another Project Piece in Grilli

31 Jan

The Phillies have added another “Project” to their farm system today.  They agreed to a Minor League contract with right-hander Jason Grilli.  Grille has been out of the Majors for over a year.

I almost feel like the Phillies could have a reality series with some of the things they do with their camp.  Between Grilli and Matt Anderson the Phillies should be filming a series called “The Comeback.”  They don’t mind filling roster spots in the Minors with these guys thinking that might have found a diamond in the rough, but I don’t like it that our other farm hands are getting less work while we spend time on these projects.

Grilli is 18-18 with a 4.74 ERA in eight seasons
in the big leagues. He hasn’t pitched since 2009 when he split time with the  Colorado Rockies and Texas
Rangers. He didn’t pitch in 2010.

People are eating this Tweet from Grilli up.

@grillcheese49  “This
Italian Stallion is FIRED UP about the City of Brother Love! Balboa
workouts paid off and READY TO GO!!!”

Grilli won’t be invited to Spring Training. He’ll likely be with the AAA Lehigh Valley IronPigs

While looking for more information on Jason I noticed he had a website.  Apparently he has been getting by selling cell phones?  Weird. You gotta check out this picture on his site.

Come over and join the discussion on my Facebook!
