The Circus is Coming to Town!

24 Sep

Since they imploded in 2007 I have been referring to the Mets as “Omar Minaya’s Traveling Circus.”  There are so many clowns on this team I don’t know how Jerry Manuel and Omar Minaya have managed to hold onto their jobs so long.

Coming off the Braves series the Phillies are 10-0 and show no signs of stopping anytime soon.  Their plan is hopefully just to keep going full throttle and lock up the N.L. East and secure themselves the top spot in the league so they can choose when they play.  The winner of the league has the option to play pick weather they would want to play their first game on Wednesday or Thursday.  The option gives the Phillies the ability set up their pitching a little better and make adjustments to give the Big Three some proper rest.

So let’s send these goofballs back to Queens like we have the last three years… As losers.

This weekend it will be…

Friday – Joe Blanton (7-6) vs R.A. Dicky (11-7)

Saturday – Kyle Kendrick (10-9) vs Dillon Gee (1-1)

Sunday – Cole Hamels (12-10) vs Mike Pelfrey (15-9)

All there of these are toss ups.  I don’t like having to face Dicky tonight because of that stupid knuckle ball.  Saturday all depends on which Kendrick we get, but the Phillies should likely pound Dillon Gee.  He has only made two starts in the majors and his last against the Pirates was pretty poor.  Sunday you have to like Cole Hamels because he is hot as hell right now, but Mike Pelfrey always pitches well against the Phillies.

The Magic number is 4, and I think it’s pretty safe to say that after this weekend it will be lower.

Side Notes –

Jimmy Rollins –  Jimmy Rollins has not played since September 8th.   Rollins took part in a simulated game on Thursday and faced live pitchers.  No word yet on how he looked but the Phillies still list him as day to day and I would expect it to stay that way.
