Phils Philet Fish Behind Cole’s 13 K’s

14 Sep

sept14.jpgSay what you want about me, but I think that Cole Hamels is the best pitcher the Phillies have.

Cole put on a show on Tuesday night.  In 6 2/3 innings Cole struck out 13 batters.  He’s now at 201 strike outs for the season which is just amazing, it also ties him with Roy Halladay.  In his last five starts Cole is 4-0 with a 0.76 ERA, 3 earned runs and 39 punch outs.

It’s almost like the Big Three of Halladay, Oswalt, and Hamels just keep showing each other up.  The gamesmanship with these guys just keeps going.  Even after 127 pitches Cole just wanted to keep going.  I LOVE how these guys are all pushing each other.  You have to feel good about the finale of this series with Roy Halladay taking the hill against a started to be named.

The offense was pretty brutal, but when you score over 40 runs in your last 7 games I suppose you’re able to have an off night.

Jayson Werth is just miserable with RISP (Runners In Scoring Position). I think he’s close to something like 1 for 44 with RISP.  Just bad.

Side Notes –

Braves – The Bravos were handed a 6-0 loss by the Nationals… Nice!
