D-Brown says, “I’m Good”

14 Jul

Domonic Brown was selected to play in this week’s All-Star Futures Game in Anaheim.  Our #1 prospect, Brown left the game in the first inning after feeing tightness in his hamstring running out of the batters box. He left the game for precautionary reasons but says that he’s fine. Brown downplayed the injury claiming that he’ll be ready to play when the IronPigs season resumes on Thursday, but don’t be surprised if he is asked to sit for a few days for evaluation. Domonic wants to play of course, that’s not a bad thing but let’s not take any chances with this kid.

Remember that Brown has been the untouchable prospect that wouldn’t be dealt in the Lee and Halladay deals and who won’t be dealt in any deals this July.  As far as when he’ll actually play it could be sometime soon, but next season is almost guaranteed.  Depending on what deals are made before July 31st Brown could be on the move, but don’t worry… It would be to Citizens Bank Park.

Side Notes –

Chad Durbin – Chad is making great progress, Chad threw two scoreless innings Monday in a rehab appearance with Single-A Clearwater.  He should be close to ready to rejoining the team after the All-Star break.

Placido – Reports have Placido coming back to the Phillies as early as this weekend.  We’ll have to see about that.  Polanco hasn’t begun his rehabbing yet, so I don’t see how that’s possible.

    Hey Mike,
That was some string of walk-offs last week. Damn impressive. I was at the game when Dobbs hit that homer in support of Halladay’s effort. Then he hits one again two(?) nights later. Anyway, sitting near the on deck circle for a Spring Training game, I was awed by Dominic Brown’s stature. His physical prowess bodes well, as does his swing.
    Hope all is well.

I really hope you’re right about Brown not being traded. Phils are notorious for trading away talent even before they get a chance to prove themselves in the majors. Still a little bitter about losing Bourn who leads the league in steals every year and especially seeing Drabek leave. Drabek wanted to stay and Lord knows how badly we need pitching around here. I’d really like to see him come back. I remember watching another certain slugger a few years ago. You may know him as Ryan Howard. He broke the home run record here in Reading and got to see him play. He was being accused of being on steroids at the time by our local paper. We have such brilliant writers up here in Reading. I heard all these rumors and had to see him play and am so glad I did.
