The New Kid

Thumbnail image for photo.jpgWith the 27th overall pick in the 2010 First-Year Player Draft, the
Philadelphia Phillies selected left-handed pitcher Jesse Biddle out of
Germantown Friends School.

Biddle, a high school senior, posted a 9-2 record with a 1.06 ERA and
140 strikeouts in 59 1/3 innings this past season, and helped to lead
his team to a league title. Germantown Friends is a Quaker School located in Northwest Philadelphia.

    I like that they picked the local kid, sometimes the karma of an event like that is just all it needs for it to be the right move… but we won’t know till at least 2014… will we remember then… LOL

    draft’s a crap shoot; be a nice story if the local kid makes good.
    Germantown Friends is in the Germantown neighborhood in NW Philadelphia…not the town of Germantown, Pa

    Yes, MLB listed him as Germantown, reporting it was two hours outside of Philly(not much of a “local” if that were the case).
    Nice post.
