Back on the Shelf

22 May

Jimmy Rollins had played well in his first four games back with the Phillies, but it didn’t last long.  During last nights game Jimmy re-injured his calf while pushing off towards first base after hitting a single in the sixth inning.  This injury is considered less severe then his previous strain, but it’s still a nagging injury that players say lingers with you for a while. The Phillies have recalled Wilson Valdez to take Rollins’ place on the 25-man roster and Juan Castro will take Jimmy’s place tonight at shortstop.

Jimmy is eligible to come off the D.L. June 6th and Ruben Amaro Jr. believes that Jimmy should be healed by then.

Other Injury News-

  • Lidge played catch again today, working in his cortisone shot.  The Phillies have no plans for Lidge just yet.
  • J.A. Happ has had two bullpen sessions so far and will likely be ready for an assignment soon.
